Self Knowledge Base is a foundation dedicated to Self-Transcendence and Self-Growth. It has a mission in educating people in learning about them selves. This learning can lead individuals to be able to find the roots of negative and damaging emotions, behaviors, and thoughts and to replace them with the ones that are healthier and more productive. A person who does not know himself can not be aware of his core essence and the magnificence within; consequently, such a person will not be able to be conscious, concerned, and attentive to himself and his surroundings.

A person with no knowledge of him self creates an ignorant, unaware, and uninformed individual. That is when ignorance, prejudice, indifference, selfishness, anger, hate, violence, abuse, neglect, carelessness, depression, anxiety, low self-value and other detrimental factors can negatively influence the person as well as his surrounding. Our mission is to encourage people and to give them information about self-enhancement and self-growth through a vital instrument: EDUCATION. We also encourage individuals to participate in acts that benefit the society they live in.
The only person who is educated it the one who has learned to learn-and change. Carl Rogers

Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful. Samuel Johnson

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. Confucius
People, in general, don't seem to be as attuned to their emotional and core needs as they are to their physical needs. It seems like if we have physical pain we will rush to a physician or a professional for help but we tend to ignore our emotional pain. We think that if we pay no attention to it, it will go away. Emotional pain can express itself in many forms from depression, guilt, anxiety, fear to anger and other negative emotions. All of which can block us from getting to our full potential in life. In order to deal with emotional pain the first step is to acknowledge that such pain exists. Then admitting to oneself that these emotional pains are real and to grow a reasonable form of optimism that one is able to grow beyond this pain.
A person with an emotionally healthy pattern of behavior is able to feel his emotions, understands his needs, values his self, is assertive, knows how to soothe himself, knows his boundaries in various relationships, is committed to his passion, allows himself to make mistakes and is honest with himself.
"As a man's heart and conscience open and his vision and consciousness expand, the greater is his awakening to the wisdom and knowledge of existence. The acute awareess of his own ignorance is every man's first solid step toward a greater knowledge of existence." Molana Shah Maghsoud Sadegh Angha (From the Book Titled Manifestations of Thought)
"I am the wisest man in Athens because I know I don't know. I am only singularly ignorant. The rest of the citizens are twice ignorant. They think they know, but they still don't know." -Plato
"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens." -Carl Jung
" To know that you do not know is the best. To pretend to know when you do not know is a disease." -Lao Tzu

Self Esteem
Someone who truly learns to know her/his Self, is more able to value her/his core being. This is where the concept of Self-esteem arises. In psychology, Self-esteem or Self-worth is described as an individual’s subjective evaluation of herself. It includes both beliefs and emotions that are related to the individual. A person with a healthy sense of self esteem starts to learn about himself and sees and accepts it as an entity with strengths, weaknesses, potentials, and limitations. Self esteem is a basic human need and is essential to the progression in life. One would be able to find her/his true value when s/he learns to acknowledge and discover the true meaning of being.
The sensation of deep emotions we feel occasionally can be engulfing. We are all in search of the meaning of life, one way or the other. As teenagers, we start the process of forming our identity and we think of the meaning of life. Who are we, what is our role here, and many other deep questions. Seeking for that one pathway that belongs to us. One that is not imitated, nor imposed, neither is it just a fantasy. It is a pathway that we've truly come to love and understand because it belongs to us. We don't know were it may end, it seems continuous, but we feel like we belong there. Therefore, even that sense of loneliness has a taste of joy to it because there is hope. A true hope stemming from knowledge.
